Masha'Allah, in Turkey, they have placed those hybrid recycle machines around major cities, where every time you put an empty water bottle at the top hole, the machine will dispense food for hungry street animals at the bottom, thus teaching people to care for both the environment and animals!
It reminds me of the time of Khalifah Omar ibn Abdulaziz, where after people refused to accept Zakah money due to prosperity and feeling content, he ended up using Zakah to buy seeds and feed hungry birds. It also reminds me of the hadeeth of the prostitute who entered Jannah because she gave water to a thirsty street dog on a hot day. Never belittle any small act of kindness. That's Islam in action!
